Not a childs play!!



 In today's time  handling children is a tedious task and all our wit and strength is exhausted to its optimum limit but every child is special and different in its own way so is the case of handling them , every child needs to be handled differently by understanding their behaviour and emotions.




Same is the case with my son, sometimes i have a tough time trying to understand how to deal with the situation  and his behaviour When he was 5 yrs old he used to hate mathematics and used to crib and cry while doing the calculations , on top of that i also persisted  on finishing all the questions. He used to get scolding everyday and persisted on studying other subjects apart from mathematics.
I wondered what i could do to stop all this and also that he starts studying the subject happily.

 From the next day i decreased the no. of questions and wherever he had difficulty in solving i guided him instead of solving for me for that i still made him use his brains but made sure that he practices it everyday and if sometimes if he  didn't want to solve a certain question but kept it for the next day i stopped insisting on solving it .

Time passed by he developed interest in the subject and today it is his favourite subject and he gets 100% marks in it.

Patience is the keyword for handling any situation.

Don't push your child everytime to think a certain way is correct may be that could be wrong.

Multani mitti for you



One day coming back from school during summer season i suffered acne on my back so my mom applied multani mitti which instantly gave me a soothing and cool effect and helped me deal with it, since then i used it regularly during summer season to get rid of it thus i realised its importance  and started using it for face as well with other ingredients.
Fullers earth commonly known as multani mitti has been used for generations to get rid of  various issues of skin and achieve a radiant , blemish free skin . It is one of the age old tips.Multani mitti is a great agent to clean, exfoliate and nourish your skin. It has active elements that effectively absorb oil, dirt, sweat and impurities, leaving the skin clean, soft and supple. One of the best quality of it is that you can use it with a lot of other ingredients to suit your skin type.

2. FACE PACK FOR
1. ACNE AND PIMPLES

You must have very less heard of this combination for face pack but it works wonders. Clove includes the anti bacterial property and can remove pimples and acne mark over your face. 
You need to use 2 pinch of clove powder in 3 tsp of multani mitti . Apply this wonderful pack over your face and stay away from pimple problems. You must do it on a regular basis.
2.BLEMISHES
Pimples are normally viewed in youths and teenagers when they are in their puberty stage. But, Even if pimples are gone, the marks of acne and blemishes stay for a long time which affects the facial beauty of individuals. 
For this you need to add 1tsp of neem powder,2 tsp of multani mitti , curd water and rose water in equal quantity for mixing the powder, if your skin is little oily then add 1tsp of curd and use rose water for mixing. Apply it evenly on your face and when it dries wash it with water.
3. FOR LESS OILY SKIN OR A COMBINATION SKIN
   Lot of times  people tend to overexpose  their skin to lot of chemicals or some sort of reaction takes place and so skin looses its moisture content . In order to replenish the moisture, honey will be used. As honey is a wonderful natural moisturizer, it works really well. All you have to do is take 1 tsp of multani mitti, 1 tsp of honey and 1/2 a lemon squeezed. Mix them properly and apply the natural pack. wash it when dry.
4. CONTROLLING THE MOISTURE CONTENT
With age the moisture level of your skin decreases so in order to maintain and give it a youthful look. You need to add 1/2tsp of crushed grapes, 1/2 tsp of orange powder, 1/2 tsp of egg white (it can be replaced with tomato juice) and 1 tsp of multani mitti.  Apply it evenly when dry wash it with normal water.
5. EXCESS OILY SKIN
Lot of amongst you must be having excess oil secretion for that you need to add equal amount of apple pulp or juice and a pinch of turmeric mix well and apply , when dry wash it with normal water.
6. LESS OILY, EXCESSIVE OILY TO COMBINATION SKIN
This face pack can be used for all three skin types all you need to do is add 1tsp of honey , 1tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp of multani mitti apply evenly when dry wash it with normal water.
NOTE - For making all these face packs you would need powdered multani mitti if you dont have no worries soften few pieces of multani mitti by soaking it in water for 1/2 an hr make a paste and then measure for the pack.You can also make these packs before and keep them in the refrigerator.

Now here's something  magical for your hair from my granny's cupboad!!

There was a time when i was fed up of experimenting with all these famous shampoos and conditioners!! and my hairfall did not stop neither the best doctor could help..they provided me with all sorts of tinctures and shampoos loaded with chemicals.. The more you apply chemicals to your hair the more longevity of your hair decreases. 

Then i thought of resorting to my nannys old method!!

The Awla, reetha , shikakai mixture.

ALL YOU NEED IS

After applying keep it for 2 to 3 hrs.and wash off with normal water , no shampoo or conditioner is required but if you feel that after washing your hair become dry then you can use little amount of conditioner..


NOTE - If you want to use both awla and heena then divide the quantity  equally.

Healthy breakfast idea!! Curd sandwich


One day i had to go early for a meeting in the morning and had forgotten to prep at night for my breakfast the next day so as always i wondered what could i have healthy and fulfilling and i came up with this idea..  


ALL I NEEDED WAS   
  • Papaya - 1 or 2 cups(pieces)
  • Homemade brown bread slices - 2
  • Hung curd -1/2  cup
  • Pumpkin - grated 1tsp
  • salt to taste
  • Parsley sprinkled
  • Oregano sprinkled
It is a wholesome food   

I usually keep hung curd ready



 in my refrigerator.
That day also i had hung curd 
ready.
In a bowl  mix hung curd,grated pumpkin, salt, parsley and oregano, apply it like a thick layer of butter between the slices and put it in the sandwich maker, in the meantime take  1 to 2 cups of chopped papaya in.
a plate.
Once the sandwich is ready take it out and there you are good to go !!!




  
your curd sandwich and papaya breakfast is ready.

Healthy and low on calories and a wholesome breafkast!!

Sweet tooth!!



A healthy idea which  satisfies  your sweet taste buds !!


Whenever we feel like eating something sweet either the idea of a piece of chocolate,or some kind of indian sweets comes up but we always wondered if we could eat something  sweet without getting worried about increasing our calorie intake. I also pondered over the same feeling and came up with this idea!!

ALL YOU NEED IS 


  • Hung Curd - 1 cup (fresh)
  • Some grated chocolate - 1tsp
  • Some tutti frutti - 1tsp
  • Vanilla essence- 2-3 drops


In a bowl add curd, tutti-fruti, vanilla essence and chocolate , mix well, now settle it in a container with a flat base and lightly press it evenly. Should be thick enough to be cut into pieces.
Keep it to rest in a freezer for 2 hrs. 
When its done cut into pieces and enjoy !!

Healthy Pancakes!




One day i was wondering  if i could make something healthy and nutritious for the breakfast so i came up with this idea !!!!

I used to make sweet pancakes for my son but what about making them with a twist which are not sweet..



ALL YOU NEED IS

  • Banana - 1
  • Oats - 1 cup
  • Spinach - 3- 4 leaves
  • Flax seeds - 1tsp
  • Muskmelon seeds - 1tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Pinch of roasted cumin seeds

In a mixer put  one peeled banana, oats, spinach, flax seeds and melon seeds, salt and cumin seeds and mix well till a proper paste is formed.
Pour  all the batter in a bowl and start making pancakes on a non stick pan with just few drops of ghee.

Makes around 5 pancakes



When eaten its gives a tangy flavor.
If u want you can have it with sauce or chutney

    Quick munchn!!






    Whenever i feel like munching something light and healthy, i find this as the best option and everyone in my house likes it.. 
    When there is not much time left for your lunch or dinner or sometimes you are a little hungry and don't want to snack heavy this recipe always comes to the rescue. There are lot of things you can add to this bowl of health!!



    ALL YOU NEED IS
    • "laiya" - 1 bowl
    • Tomato - 1
    • Coriander - chopped
    • Corn kernel -1 tsp(boiled to soften)
    • Carrot -  1 tsp(grated)
    • Onion -1(small)
    Some chopped green chilles
    I always roast about one pan of "laiya" with 1 tbsp of butter some salt and pepper and keep it in an air tight container.
    Yesterday my son asked for it , now i was in a dilemma as to what i should put during this holy week as i cannot give him onion as it tastes good with it but i don't think it is the case with everyone.



    So all i did was .... 

    In a bowl put "laiya", 1 chopped tomato, grated carrot, corn and some chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste and some pepper, mix it well then garnish it with few drops of lemon juice and serve.

    I bet you will ask for more!!

    Kashmiri Methi Chaman !!!




    This is right from Kashmir.....  

    It is one of my favourite kashmiri recipes, mouth watering and it is usually made during all the Kashmiri festivals.I like it with rice only.



    ALL YOU NEED IS


    • Methi/fenugreek  - 100gms(fresh)
    • Methi/fenugreek - 2tbsp(dried)
    • Palak/Spinach - 250gms
    • Chaman/Paneer - 250gms
    • Salt to taste
    • Garam masala - 1tsp
    • Kashmiri red chilli  powder (per taste)

                                        
          In a cooker put fenugreek and Spinach (washed),put one cup water and boil it upto two whistles on a medium flame.Once its done and cools ,blend both the things in a mixer .
    Cut pieces of chaman/paneer into 2 " cubes and fry them into a pan of oil . Take a separate bowl put some water for heating, add 1/2 tsp of turmeric and salt. while frying put the pieces into that bowl.(the pieces should not be dark brown or don't fry them much).Once done keep it aside.

    In another pan put 5tbsp vegetable oil and roast the patse on a medium to slow flame till the colour changes and a lump is formed.  again pour  1/2 mug of water and start mixing, once done  pour the chaman/paneer pieces with water into this pan.
    Keep the fire on a medium to low flame and let it boil till you see that the oil has risen.
    The gravy should be  thick. You are ready to please your tastebuds.

    Summer coolers!!



     Now this one is loved by my son very much as it includes ice-cream as well and every child is a die hard fan of their favourite ice-cream, but if you give them a free hand to have it they will keep on having it till their throats start choking!!






    Few days back my son persisted on having an ice-cream and we got this brick of vanila ice-cream, the moment he got it he wanted to finish all of it, but i'am always on the look out for some healthy options...

    One day he asked me to have more of that ice-cream and i convinced him to give a tasty mix with the ice-cream, he readily agreed as he knows that i will definitely give him some tasty treat.


    FOR THAT ALL YOU NEE IS

    • Grapes - 6-7
    • Apple - 1
    • Orange -1
    • ChilledMilk - quantity enough to blend

    Then what i did was...

    In a blender put  6-7 grapes, one orange peeled(only the seeds taken out)and one apple ,to this i added some milk so that it mixes well.
    Take a glass put a tbsp of ice-cream at the base, pour the fruit smoothie in it again put a tbsp of ice-cream and then pour the rest of the smoothie .
    On top again put a tbsp of ice-cream and serve.




    THE BENEFITS

    • Fiber intake
    • Less icecream
    • Healthy fresh juice instead of packed juice which has a lot of sugar.



    NOTE:- If you want instead of milk you can add water but then will have to put more ice-cream to maintain the consistency.
    Can add coconut milk as well for a more tasty twist.

    Make it at home healthy brown bread!!




    Now the first thing that i tried was homemade brown bread , i got encouraged seeing my aunt making it and then i experimented with it a little bit .
    I avoid cooking anything with maida/ all purpose flour as it is not good for anybody especially children and i don't want to give it to my son either. You can make any kind of sandwiches with this bread, my son loves it !!

    ALL YOU NEED IS

    Wheat flour - 3 cups

    Sugar - 2tbsp
    Salt - 1tsp
    Milk - 1 tea cup
    Refined oil -2tbsp
    Baking powder - 2 1/2 tsp
    Yeast - 3tspn (available in the market as dry yeast) and
    Warm water 


    • In a small bowl mix yeast and warm water(3 tbspn) wait for 1or 2 mnts so that it rises.If it doesn't rise much don't get worried.
    • In the meantime in another bowl put wheat flour the yeast mixture salt and start making a dough keep on kneading it for 2 to 3 mnts if required then grease your hands with oil and then knead.
    • Make a thick roll then fold it and keep it aside covering it with wet cotton cloth.
    • After 4to5 hrs again knead it fold it and set in the baking tray .(for this again u'll have to grease your hands as it will start sticking.)
    • The next morning after 12 hrs put the baking  tray into the oven at 220 C for 25mnts.


    NOTE:- Setting aside time depends upon the season in winters  it can take around two to three days depending upon how cold it is and make sure that you keep it in a warm place. But in summers it will take less if its very hot then a gap of a night  is enough and if the quantity is more baking time will increase i.e for every  per cup increase to the given quantity 10mnts more will be added to the given time.
